Grant's Campaign Dispatches From Petersburg Front
A Herald correspondent reports Union forces hold ground near Petersburg after recent actions with Hampton. Pickets stand fifty yards apart with no firing. Bermuda Hundred supplies advance while Fort Harrison sees skirmishing and a heavy rebel gunboat bombardment. Prisoner exchanges occur and deserters enter Union lines daily as dead rebels remain unburied.
