Boston Convention Reports Vast Christian School Growth

On the second day in Boston the convention heard a state central committee report showing about 18 000 teachers and 160 000 scholars in evangelical schools, 244 schools, 4683 teachers, 38 699 scholars, and 24 991 average attendance. It noted returns cover only one fifth of schools, predicting ~55 000 scholars over fifteen. A new state central committee was chosen and talks by Low of New Orleans and Conant of New York followed, with Manning’s essay on qualification of teachers. The gathering exceeded 2000 delegates, the largest in state history.
