One man, Charles Smith of Dorchester, died when a car carrying Mrs. Smith and Mr. and Mrs. L H Fullerton of Brookline overturned near Hawkes Corners after a rear wheel collapsed. The Fullertons and Mrs Smith were injured and hospitalized. Mrs Fullerton is listed in danger with head and limb injuries.
In Mountainview New Hampshire Dr George B Magrath a Boston medical examiner conducted a secret autopsy on Mrs Florence A Small’s body to determine if she died before a September 27 house fire He declined to reveal findings noting a curious resin like coating on the body and saying he had never seen such a substance before.
Tl'rederick L Small, Boston broker and husband of a slain woman, was held for the grand jury on a first degree murder charge by Judge C S Miles. The grand jury will convene in December. The State offered no testimony to counter the defense claim the crime may have occurred after Small left the house en route to Boston. The hearings featured strong defense pacing and skilled argument, drawing attention from lawyers and newspaper men who anticipate national reputations for William S Matthews and Sidney S Stevens if Small stands trial.
The Majestic Theatre license, suspended days earlier by the Municipal Board of Censors over the film play Is Any Girl Safe? was restored last night by Mayor Curley.
