Massachusetts Waterways Commission approved a trolley freight connection between the South Boston fish pier and the Boston Elevated system. The commission will build the line and lease it to the Elevated for operation, with bids sought and a Monday contract award anticipated.
Boston's second forty percent of the citizen army will depart for the Ayer training camp at 3 PM from North station with little ceremony. Navy despatch from Tutuila Samoan Islands reports master of missing C Slade arriving in an open boat. It claims the Seeadler stranded on Mopeha Island after destroying three American schooners and that German crew members began plans for further depredations on other captured vessels.
On August 2 the Seeadler was abandoned and on August 21 its commanding officer with three officers and two men set out in a motor sloop with machine guns rifles bombs and two months supplies. The remaining Seeadler crew captured the French schooner Lutece on Sept 5 and left 27 white and 17 native prisoners marooned on Mopeha Island in need of food and water.
