Missing town notes lurk in Grover estate safe mystery

Sharon officials await a new search of the late town counsel Thomas E. Grover's effects for two notes totaling 2122.50 and the deed to the new library property. The notes, dated 1904 and 1908, were allegedly folded into the deed and placed in the strong box of the burglar proof safe, where only the treasurer and one trustee held keys. The box had last opened for the deed in Postoffice Square, and trustees fear the notes disappeared during the deed’s removal. The town auditors and Selectmen vow no entry breach, while a long key hunt followed the discovery of the missing papers.
