Last Friday afternoon a telegraph messenger speeding with a telegram valued at sixpence a minute was seriously injured by a blind man named Standfast. The cripple had removed his wooden leg to rest it by the roadside, and mischievous boys had hidden the limb. Groping for it, Standfast moved into the boy’s path, and the rapid messenger was struck. The boy sprained his wrist and will be unable to hold a grip for two weeks.
