Guiseppe Manvera alias Joseph St. Marie admitted guilt in the New Hampshire Supreme Court for the killing of P. L. Perkins at Alton on September 25. He received a twenty year sentence in the State Prison.
Judge Burke reported two inquests into deaths caused by West End Street Railway cars. Thomas Cotter, five, was run down June 25. the driver did not see him until under the dasher and the car dragged him, amputating an arm and a leg. Union workers quit sheds where only apprentice sharpeners remain as the dispute over job rights and shed conditions intensifies.

New York October 4 The Court of Appeals affirms a lower court ruling in favor of the Edison Company in the dispute with United States Illuminating Company over rights to use the incandescent light. The patent has six years to run and is described by Edison’s attorneys as worth millions to the corporation.
The Rhode Island General Assembly opened a special session in Providence. Republicans introduced a bill to hold Newport city elections on the fourth Wednesday in October. A Democratic resolution for a public hearing on Newport was defeated, and legislators adjourned to Friday.
