Symphony rehearsal seat sale draws buyers in person

Demand for cheaper seats makes the morning sale at Symphony Hall lively. The $10 rehearsal seats sold out in yesterday's session, covering the last eight rows on the floor and last five rows of the first balcony. Prices averaged higher than last year.

Premiere seating fetches premium in rehearsal sales

The first row sold KK seats averaged over 30 in premiums, beating the 18 dollar seats. Most of the $10 tier also commanded high premiums, with only the very back rows under 20. The last five rows of the first balcony followed the same pattern with premiums from 13 to 28. Rehearsal seat sales overall were satisfactory. $8 seats for the 94 Saturday concerts go on sale Thursday at 10 in Symphony Hall.

Drill Strikes Dynamite Injures Worcester Workers

Three Worcester water department employees were seriously hurt when a stick of dynamite exploded in a clay bank at the Kendall reservoir site in Holden. Nicola Veldoline and Nicola Baunsanto, both of Worcester, suffered severe facial injuries likely costing sight, while Francisco Caparlo of Worcester broke his right arm. The blast occurred during drilling for a new blast and is believed to have set off a dynamite charge left from a prior blast.
