Heinrich Recital Charms Small Chickering Hall Audience
In Chickering Hall the German lieder recital by Mr Max Heinrich and assisted by Miss Charlotte Walker drew a small crowd due to weather. Heinrich sang eleven Schubert Die schöne Müllerin songs and five Brahms songs with strong, resonant voice and German training. Walker offered six Schumann and four Schubert songs but showed mechanical tendencies though she displayed moments of warmth and brilliance. The review praises Heinrich’s truthful, forceful interpretation and notes Walker’s occasional expressiveness, with a second program promised featuring Schubert Winter Journey, Dying Strains, Wagner, Liszt and Frid selections.
