Consolidation trends in New England railroads and copper boom
Messrs. Cordley and Co report growing consolidation on the south side rail lines toward a two‑party control linking Boston and New York routes. The Boston and Maine aims for New York access, while copper markets in Lake Superior surge with higher dividends and new mine activity. Talks at the Quincy House hint at another B and M consolidation, with possible five hour Boston to New York services and closer Boston New York air line operations.

Confederate Plate Engraver Jacques Wissler Dead in Camden
Jacques Wissler, who engraved nearly all plates for Confederate money and bonds, died Friday night at his Camden New Jersey home at age 110. Despite Northern sympathies, he was effectively a prisoner of war labor. He amassed a fortune before wartime suspicions led to confiscation, then lived on a farm near Macon Missouri before settling in Camden.
