Boston furniture firm marks 61 years in business with four and a half acre warerooms and wholesale prices. The six day event promises prices well below cost to attract 5000 new customers, with deep discounts across all items near Union Station.
Boston Mayor Quincy defends the Southern Union station plan, citing a total cost near two million dollars with bridge amendments not pushing it to four million. He calls for open inquiry into city railroad dealings and praises Republican leaders who supported the act.

A 37 year old Chelsea domestic Mary Campbell survived a knife and chlorine attack at her employer Theodore Du Plissie home on Eleanor Street. A veiled woman in black, unknown to Campbell, twice rang the bell and attempted to cut her throat and burn her face. a crucifix saved her heart wound. Campbell, Nova Scotia native, remains in care as investigators probe the motive. Meanwhile Harvard seniors consider reforms to class elections using Australian ballot to curb political slates and wire pulling.
The Vienna Reichsrat reassembled to a storm of abuse and whistles. Dr Wolff and several Socialist deputies were suspended after police ejected him from the chamber amid violent shouts. A 10 000 strong street mob threatened Count Badeni with the guillotine and police clashed with students, injuring officers.
Forecast for Massachusetts Rhode Island and Connecticut calls for rain in the morning then clearing weather. It will turn decidedly colder with a cold wave and a four degree drop in temperature. Southwest winds along the coast shift to northwest with clearing.
A Somerville boy, nine, named George H., son of George Rana, sustained injuries in a train incident near Cambridge. The scant OCR text implies a confusion about the train and location, with references to a Porter and North ridges, but the exact circumstances remain unclear.
