Ferrero Links Nero and Paul in Rome Seminar

Roman historian Guglielmo Ferrero portrayed Nero as a tyrant who softened Roman hearts for Christianity by bringing artists to Rome. He traced Nero’s rise under Agrippina, his cruelty, battles with his mother, and the murder of Agrippina, then noted Nero’s love affair with Poppaea Sabina and his theater exploits in Naples. The burning of Rome and the later persecution of Christians were described, with Paul possibly among victims, ending with Nero’s death by his own hand.
