Edward Payson Weston a 69 year old pedestrian is due to complete a 1230 mile march from Portland Maine this afternoon at five miles an hour, entering Chicago at the Illinois Athletic Club with a new world record within reach. He left Portland October 29 and yesterday covered 81 miles showing exceptional stamina. He aims to beat his own 40 year old record set at age 29 though he does not walk on Sundays.

Edward Flower a 29 year old Somerville resident was attacked near Hanover and Elm streets just after 8 PM. A stranger demanded money and then struck Flower knocking him to the sidewalk before escaping with his watch and chain. Flower was taken to Relief Hospital with bruises and a scalp wound.
Fore River Ship Building Company of Quincy contemplates suits against the Navy Department to recover $685,000 claimed due beyond contract price for building the battleships Rhode Island and New Jersey.
The Navy Department asks Attorney General Bonaparte to rule on whether Fore River and Newport News Ship Building claims for added costs due to design changes will stand. Bonaparte is expected to decide against the contractors, who may then sue for recovery. The Fore River firm cites changes during Rhode Island and New Jersey builds, while Newport News seeks payment for Virginia West Virginia Maryland alterations.
Judge Joseph J. Fallon told the Merchants Association that if citizens do not uphold the current School Board, the State Legislature may seize control of the city schools. He warned the board’s plans could eliminate the need for a juvenile court in a few years. Other speakers urged preserving the board’s positions.

Dr. W M Barton of Georgetown University testified Mrs Annie M Bradley was insane at the time she fatally shot former Utah Senator Arthur Brown on December 8, 1906. The expert spoke after a 13000 word hypothetical history was read to him during the trial.
Dr Barton explained why he viewed Mrs Bradley as abnormal noting her interest in political club affairs and other uncommon female pursuits. He withstood cross examination by the district attorney and insanity experts as the trial continued with the defendant showing pallor dejection and quiet sorrow.
Medford reports the Craddock School teacher Miss Della Joslin faced charges of ill treating pupils on November 18. James Phelan and James Mitchener presented the case at a special school board meeting, which adjourned the hearing to the next regular meeting after the lengthy session. The proceedings stem from the loss of a nickel and alleged searches of Phelan and Mitchener.
Ten thousand Benis Nas sen tribesmen attacked the French camp near Lalla Maghnia Algeria on November 24 and were repelled with about 1200 killed. The battle lasted long with fierce charges and high casualties on both sides.
