Bitter Middlesex Probate Court custody case in divorce suit

In Middlesex Probate Court Judge Mel Intire heard James A Lind of Mansfield sue Major and Mrs J Edward Burbank of Malden for 20 and contest for child custody and damages from John F Fielding for alienation of his wife’s affections. The trial featured testimony about a signed agreement and the disappearance with the child, adjourned until December 23.

Attachment Placed On Warwick Cycle Co Property

A $150000 attachment was levied on Warwick Cycle Company property at Springfield by Joseph Banagan of Providence for notes used to pay rubber stock. Banagan is represented by Frank P. Goulding. The Massachusetts corporation owns works in Springfield with branches in Providence Philadelphia and Cleveland.

East Boston Social Club Holds First Annual Hall of Fame

Last night Maverick Hall hosted the East Boston Social Club annual event with a concert from 8 to 9, followed by a grand march for 100 couples. David Finkleman led the floor with Michael Gordon assisting, as Boston groups attended and officers and members danced into the small hours.

Maritime Social Club Holds Fifth Annual Hall

The Maritime Provincial Club, composed of former provincial citizens now in Boston, held its fifth annual ball at Copley Hall last night. Four hundred guests attended, enjoying MacInnis’s Orchestra and decor blending America and the Provinces. Floor Marshal MacPherson led a large crew ensuring smooth dancing and overall satisfaction.

Burglar Haverstraw Fights Police in City Burglary

Charles Haverstraw alias Charles Armstrong, 33, in custody on breaking and entering and assault charges after a rear building break in. Melbourne Miller and bystander Samuel Coombs chased him. Miller was bitten and both men suffered cuts and bruises. Haverstraw, a prior offender with two state prison terms, is said to have lived at 15 Eustis Street.

Barrowmore fire damages vessel and cargo at East Boston

A careless coal trimmer started a blaze on the Barrowmore in East Boston while loading cattle and merchandise for London. The fire, fought with extensive help, caused heavy machinery and cargo damage, with shipowners considering a five day to one week overhaul. Insurance covers losses. A rumor of a sleeping man on board could not be verified.
