Fires Heavy Losses Across Cities Prompt Arson Suspicions

A morning blaze in Lawrence damaged three stores in Ordway block with lodgers escaping suffocation. Three men were arrested on suspicion of arson as losses were covered by insurance. Other fires reported in Chattanooga St. Elmo, Paterson, New Orleans, Bellaire, Brusseys, Alton, Crepar Karins, Greenfield, Charleston, Newton, and Boston, causing substantial property damage and several injuries.
