A stowaway named Jacob Lucknow secreted in the Tabasco’s coal bunkers was found after 24 hours at sea and attempted to jump overboard in a heat ravaged delirium. Percy arrived with 5500 tons of coal, while the Republic steamship bound to this port from Genoa Naples and the Azores carried 1426 passengers.
