Tragic double death in New York tenement
In New York on November 22 two women living on the first floor of 240 East Eighty-seventh Street were found dead. Antonia Ledecky aged 67 died by hanging from a gas pipe while her daughter Fannie aged 35 bled from a razor wound in the left wrist after a presumed mental breakdown. The bodies were discovered by the son Otto Ledecky who said his mother had long suffered rheumatism and frequent insanity and both women were described as mentally unsound.

Freight train crashes into open switch at Van Buren yard
