Buoys Set For The Trial Of The Battleship Kentucky

Buoys numbered 1 to 4 in white have been placed at Eastern Point and Cape Ann lighthouses with specified magnetic bearings and distances for the Kentucky speed trial. The positions include bearings from Eastern Point and Cape Ann light, with distances ranging from 9 to 63 4 miles and references to White Island light and Cape Ann north tower. The key will be removed after the trial.

Democratic national committee adjourns to meet by call

The Democratic national executive committee adjourned sine die in Chicago and plans meetings every sixty days. Chairman J B Johnson reported on the campaign fund with $175000 subscribed and $147000 collected. A campaign button praised no foreign alliance no trusts no imperialism, and members favored endorsing the Chicago platform with anti trust and anti imperialist planks at the 1900 convention.

Amended Boston & Albany Lease Details Public

The amended Boston & Albany lease runs nine years from July 1 1900 to the New York Central. The lessee pays 500 000 annually in quarterly rent plus 10 000 yearly for organization expenses for ten years. The NY Central assumes damages suits for negligent operation and must maintain the property in good condition. Both companies may modify or annul by mutual agreement subject to stockholders and legislative ratification.

Colonial Wars to Probe Boston Common Monument Plan

The Massachusetts Society of Colonial Wars will investigate a proposed British soldier memorial for Boston Common tied to the Battle of Bunker Hill. They will review Mayor Quinney's permission and have formed a three member committee to report next month.

Women Club House Eyes Beacon Hill Eight Story Building

A special stockholders meeting of the Woman's Club House Corporation discussed a proposed trust plan to erect an eight story building on Beacon Hill. The group debated reducing to three stories, but affirmed that women should lead the project. Treas. Dr. L. B. Winsor and Miss Hill outlined values and costs, noting Beacon Street lots rose from 74200 in 1889 to 108000 now. surrounding land is valued at 45 per foot though bought for 25. The board will formalize Miss Hill's plan for stockholders. Mrs. J Sewell Reed highlighted stock gains of 60 dollars per share. Mrs. W. W. Potter presided as the Tremont building offices serve as update HQ.

Golf Social Club of South Bos House Warming

The Golf Social Club of South Bos hosts a house warming in the spacious halls on Andrew Square this evening. Vocal and instrumental entertainment will precede dancing to Gensler's Orchestra. The arrangements committee includes Dacey chairman Ambrose Lanning Edward Litchfield Nelson Richards Frank Murphy and John Mutrie with M Callahan as floor director. A follow party is anticipated.
