Dr Lemuel F Noble previously holed up at his Massachusetts Avenue office was seized in Pittsburg on a conspiracy to illegally distribute habit forming drugs. He is jailed in Pittsburg awaiting Boston requisition papers.
The School Board voted to compel attendance for children kept out through fear of infantile paralysis or unlawful causes. Attendance this year is 6000 less than last year. During the paralysis outbreak attendance officers did not enforce the law for ages 5 to 14 or 14 to 16.
Health authorities declared the city rid of the disease and the school board directed officers to compel the return to school of all children of compulsory age who are unlawfully absent. Parents neglecting school attendance now face arrest and imprisonment.
The Nova Scotian schooner Kenneth C. bound from Liverpool to Halifax in ballast is a total loss off the coast of Ireland. Captain Charles McDade and the crew were saved and taken to safety.
Dr Noble traveled by car from Boston to Buffalo then Erie before his mobile was shipped to Pittsburgh where it was unloaded yesterday. Pinkerton watchers tracked his movements as two companions were detained hours and questioned after giving police statements. Noble was not in his office at 143 Massachusetts Avenue when raided.
