William J. Duffy an attaché of the US naval prison in Portsmouth seeks to annul his marriage to Julia V. Mullane claiming he was persuaded to wed while intoxicated. He appeared in the Maine Supreme Court with another woman he says was his first wife and who he says was present.

Two men were killed and two more badly hurt when a car they were racing in crashed through a wooden fence at the Speedway in Franklin Field and overturned. Police found the car stolen and all four occupants were arrested. Only the driver remained conscious at City Hospital and said the group had been drinking prior to the crash.
