Colonel Roosevelt writes to the Progressive committee of Massachusetts stating the state must lead the Progressive fight. He notes that the defeat did not discourage supporters and the letter was released by the Roosevelt committee last night.
Roosevelt writes from Oyster Bay on November 12 1912 praising Massachusetts Progressives for Tremont Temple and Faneuil Hall actions. He argues the party seeks social and industrial justice through true democracy and lifting restrictions on the weak while opposing privileged interests and corrupt machines.
George Ober, veteran stage actor born in Baltimore in 1849, died today at his Hastings-on-Hudson home from pneumonia. He appeared at Ford's Theatre in youth and later worked with John Wilkes Booth and Edwin Booth, later stage partner with Edward Forrest and Frank Mayo. Ober helped pioneer outdoor performances at historic sites, including a 1907 open-air production of Rip Van Winkle at Palenville for several thousand spectators.

Putnam Connecticut, Nov 17. A rear end collision between two freight trains on the New York New Haven Hartford line a mile north of Putnam station left one man dead and another severely injured. Henry E Brooks head brakeman of train 412 was killed when he was thrown between cars as 412 crashed into 410 which was stopped for engine repairs.
James Shaw of Pinehurst received a sprained leg and bruises after a collision between trains 412 and 410. Gallagher, the flagman at 410, is blamed. he disappeared as 412 approached too quickly to warn. Eighteen cars of 410 derailed, many derailed cars beyond repair. Engineer Fred Murphy and fireman leapt to safety. The wreck is cited as New England’s costliest freight accident in four years.
President-elect Woodrow Wilson spent a quiet Sunday on the steamer Bermudian en route to Bermuda. He rose early for a deck walk, read in the library, and took a long nap as fair weather and smooth seas continued. The Bermudian was due to reach Hamilton tomorrow.
