In London on November 17, Irish landlords voted 1128 to 678 to meet with tenant representatives to discuss land sale to tenants under the land purchase act or other negotiated terms. The circular was sent to 4000 landlords owning 500 acres or more, marking a historic shift in Ireland's land question.
A Post report quotes a friend saying Governor Crane will not become Secretary of the Treasury nor a presidential candidate. He plans to retire to private life and focus on business, despite urging from President Roosevelt and Senator Lodge. Crane will return to public life only if Massachusetts voters request it. He is currently on a vacation visiting New York, Philadelphia, and Chicago.
M and Mme de Margerie guest stars at the Vanderbilt estate Biltmore near Asheville North Carolina during Thanksgiving holidays. M de Margerie serves as counsellor of the French embassy and acts as charge d affaires in the ambassador's absence while Mme de Margerie, sister of Edmond Rostand author of Cyrano de Bergerac, is noted for her beauty and popularity in Washington.
London dated report says Jasper Tully’s revolt from William O’Brien’s leadership prompts creation of a new Irish party led by Timothy Healy. The platform is described as common sense and moderation with nine members already joined and eighteen more ready to adhere.
About 200 members of the Boston Methodist Social Union with guests Governor elect John L Bates and Rev Wallace MacMullen attended a ladies night at the American House Hanover street. Bates praised Massachusetts as more Christian and cited prison trades, schools, and libraries as benefits of Christian governance. MacMullen discussed Methodism and modern thought.
A citywide canvass of coal dealers shows no prospects for a price drop. Herbert Lyman of the Boston fuel supply committee sought a reduction from Hamlin of the Metropolitan Coal Co but was met with no encouragement. Hamlin said coal remains scarce and not available in large quantities, amid speculation that soft coal is controlled by speculators.

A Back Bay message from Norfolk Virginia dated November 17 reports former President Cleveland and his party have had little success in shooting ducks with only a few killed so far.
Aldanise lies dying in Newton Hospital as his wife, held in Cambridge, may face trial. She initially said the shooting was accidental, then confessed to shooting her husband in an Italian boarding house on Boylston Street. He claims a stray bullet from a grove near Echo Bridge caused the wound.
Edward Pym Remington releases a long statement asserting his brother Robert Reading Remington was murdered in Newport rather than dying by his own action. He describes wounds including two six inch and three inch gashes and two bullet wounds, and says autopsy supports foul play. He vows to reveal further evidence and pursue suspects through his attorney.
Perry L O Perry was arraigned in Somerville Police Court on charges of murdering Agnes McPhee on Chester street West Somerville October 3. He was committed to prison without bail awaiting grand jury action. Witnesses numbered 28 testified for the state with no defense testimony offered. The case hinges on the McPhee watch sale to a pawnbroker and the gift of her chain to a cousin, plus a blood-stained cuff found at Perry's Cambridge home and evidence linking a Norcross shaker to the murder.
