A 15 year old named Frank Leighton admitted setting fire to George Fred Williams's Dorchester home at 26 Mountain Avenue to watch the fire department respond. The blaze caused 600 in damage to the two story dwelling. He confessed after police and Fire Marshal Whitcomb's officers questioned him. He will be arraigned in Dorchester Court this morning.
In Lynn on November 17 the Democratic municipal convention nominated Walter L. Ramsdell for mayor with no opposition. Nominations also set for ward offices including Woodbury Armstrong Morse Buffington Dennis Taylor Lambert Farmer Rich and the three year term for school committee with Breed Harlan Breed Wyman Faulkner. John A. O’Keefe presided.
Wong Ling Auck, a prominent Chinatown businessman with the W. S. Lung Company at 30 Harrison Ave, married Goon Shee in Montreal then Boston. The couple hosted a 400-guest banquet at Harrison Ave restaurants, with Wong visiting each table and gifting chams. The bride wore rich embroidered attire and a decorative fan. Wong wore silk robes and a Li Hung Chang–style hat.
Nellie J. Peterkin faced a Municipal Court hearing on murder charges for shooting Catherine J. Murphy at 5 Myrtle Street on October 29. Judge Adams ordered her held for the December grand jury.
Edward R. Murphy aged 24 of 13 Cottage street Dorchester was arrested yesterday on larceny charges for taking a buggy valued at 75 dollars from Fred Lomas of 99 Bellington street Chelsea. The alleged theft occurred in front of 24 Chardon street Boston on October 31.
Relatives of the late John B. Ketcham plan to contest his will if one exists, arguing unsound mind for ten months and questioning a Ketcham Walkup marriage. Milwaukee preacher identifies a photo of Mrs Walkup's butler resembling the groom, suggesting the ceremony may have linked Keller and Mrs Walkup instead of Ketcham.
Joseph A. Iasigi began his first day in light solitary confinement at the Milwaukee prison. He faced a cell about 10 by 8 feet with limited contact, receiving hash and coffee at breakfast and soup and bread at dinner. He did not complain and remained isolated as his 24 hour term extended beyond the standard schedule.
Deputy Warden Allen told a Post representative that it is not yet decided where Mr. Insigi will work but likely in the shoe department, one of the prison’s largest with about 300 inmates. His cell and visitation rights will be set this morning and he will receive one letter monthly plus one allowed visit. other letters are unrestricted.
