Gloucester fisheries losses for 1881 reported

Gloucester mass November 17 The Cape Ann Advertiser previews a summary of 1881 fishing season losses. Four vessels were lost in Bank fishery with two crews of twenty five men. seven vessels valued at 29800 in insurance 20493. Eighteen men lost overboard or in dories totaling 43 lives. Total marine losses for Gloucester district reach 9 vessels 735.82 tons 50 mariners with 50 lives lost including foreign and coastwise schooners.
