Frank rescued his wife and two children aged 9 and 6 while tenant Schaeffer escaped by leaping from a second floor window when fire trapped him. He was taken to City Hospital with a critical head wound. the couple had been married three years and the wife says he acted strangely all day.

Tragic suicide attempt ends on Hyde Park Avenue

Just before 6 o clock a man left his house in a troubled mood his wife followed distressed begging him to return home. At Hyde Park Avenue he shot himself placing the revolver to his head and fell to the sidewalk as bystanders hurried to aid the heartbroken wife who was found weeping over him.
