William I. Watson stands trial in Curiaco for conspiring to defraud the Ansonia Clock Company of Connecticut of 18000 dollars. Gledhill, the manager, allegedly took 11000 dollars and fled across the border. Watson later invested his funds in a cigar shop he now owns and faces retrial for conspiracy after an acquittal on embezzlement.
Wells, Fargo & Co have contracted for express service on all lines operated or controlled by the Atchison Topeka and Santa Fe system about 8000 miles. A general express war is expected between Wells Fargo and American companies against the United States which recently absorbed the Baltimore and Ohio.
