Four Quincy boys aged 12 to 15 appeared in police court on charges of annoying two Chinese maids Mrs Julia Tang and Miss Mildred Wong nieces of former Chinese minister Wu Ting Fang. Three were found guilty and placed on probation while Peter Creeden was exonerated. The maids attended the Quincey Mansion preparatory school.

The Finance Commission confirmed through official documents and statements that Mayor Fitzgerald asked no bid advertisements for Common repairs done after contractor Hallion. It alleges Hallion authorized Senator Linehan to collect sums from the city and that Linehan directed work on the Common walks. Bank ledgers allegedly show Linehan deposited city checks to his own account and issued checks against them.

Mayor's Letter Directs Nonbid Contract for Common Work

Last night the Finance Board heard letters from the Mayor directing Superintendent Doogue to seek permission to award a Common contract without bids. The request was granted, work goes to missing contractor Hallion. Senator Linehan, then Alderman, helped with the task and documents show Linehan drawing city funds via Hallion. Bank records reveal Linehan deposited Hallion checks into his personal account. Hallion is untraced, while in Boston he stayed at Linehan's house. City Engineer Jackson said bids should have been advertised. Wilbur F Adams testified that Linehan warned him not to meddle with Common contracts, Adams declined.

Death of Captain Meigs Father of Boston Elevated System

Captain Joe V. Meigs age 67 longtime inventor of the Meigs elevated cars died at his Charlestown home after a long illness. He secured a Boston franchise in 1894 and his charter later passed to current investors in the Boston Elevated road. He leaves two sons Dr J W Meigs of Lowell and Dr Return J Meigs of Lowell. Funeral held in Lowell on Saturday afternoon.
