Last night Republican caucuses gave Mayor Hart a clear path to renomination with no opposition. Ward 9 featured a scandalous episode described as the most disgraceful ever, during a fight between Campbell and Myrick, which Campbell won. Ward 1 saw an arrest for repeating and threats of arrests for alleged illegal voting in other caucuses.
The Republican caucuses showed unusual activity with Ward 9 cited as especially notorious. Dennis Gillespie of 504 Bennington Street East Boston was arrested at Ward 1 for repeating after an official ballot was found in his overcoat pocket.

Mrs. Mary Fitzgerald of 98 West Third Street South Boston was struck by an unidentified man on Broadway and A Street. She lay in Station 6 all night labeled a simple drunkard until the South Boston District Court discharged her. She was later sent to City Hospital in serious condition with apparent injuries from the assault. A doctor reported likely injuries from the blow though full extent was undetermined.
Patrick Ryan of Mone treal, visiting Lynn, cared for a 3 week old baby on a Boston to Lynn express after a young woman asked him to watch the child while she fetched a missing ticket. Other passengers noticed the stunt and he completed the ride, ending at a Lynn police station. The infant was sent to a local institution for care.
