Final adjournment resolution in Legislature and crime report
A resolution for final adjournment on the 21st has been introduced in the Legislature. Chester K. Albee, who stabbed Leach at Troy, Wednesday, was Thursday arrested. Waving ex amination respondent gave bonds for his appearance at the County Court. The receipts of butter at St. Albans, Wednesday, were light, market quiet and prices unchanged. Common to good sold at 12 to 17 cents, choice, 18 to 20 cents, selections, 22 to 23 cents, with some extra choice lots at a higher price. The Fish and Game Protective Association have elected Col. M.S. Colburn of Factory Point, President, Dr George F. Gale of Brattleboro, one of the Vice Presidents, S. B Pettengill of Rutland and Henry A. Harmon of Bennington, Secretaries, Col. N.T. Sprague of Brandon, Treasurer. In the face of the recent report of Drs Middleton Goldsmith of Rutland and O. F. Fassett of St. Albans, physicians of acknowledged ability and more than State reputation, that the Brattleboro Insane Asylum is over-crowded, ill ventilated and otherwise deficient for its purposes. State Commissioner Calderwood trots out his little statement, containing the rather idiotic assertion that the institution is periodically arraigned for no other reason than that it is indicted by the newspapers.
