Five Per Cent Bonds Offer Through Treasury Proposal

Washington reports a 5 percent bond issue offers with $50 to $50,000 denominations. Proposals due by Nov 24 from bidders, 20 percent gold payments required upfront and every ten days afterward. Bonds dated Feb 1 1894, redeemable after ten years, interest 5 percent quarterly in coin. London and New York banks poised to bid. Carlisle and Cleveland support plan to restore gold reserve.

Boston bankers dismiss popular bond issue

Banker L. S. Tuckerman of Boston told a Post reporter he doubted a popular bond issue offered to small holders would outperform the Treasury plan. He said bankers would likely sell the bonds to New York, where more money is, and thus avoid holding them at a low rate.

Patrick Morley Dies After Stairway Fall at Home

Patrick Morley 42 died after a fall down stairs at 464 Commercial Street and a skull fracture. He was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital yesterday in nonresponsive condition. Morley was married.
