Cash offer met with calm resistance at Somerville store

Jacob Annoshian, owner of a fruit store at 152 Cross Street, Somerville, faced a revolver last night at 9 15. The robber demanded ten dollars and the proprietor calmly pointed to the cash register and allowed the theft.

Cambridge clerk shot during holdup at Tremont Street store

A 42 year old Cambridge man Annoshian was shot twice during a holdup at his Tremont Street store. He was rushed to Somerville Hospital in critical condition. The robber fled taking nothing but the till remained with $9.51 reported. Two men seen outside the store during the holdup were not found by police.

Fire damages two and a half story house in West Roxbury

A fire last night damaged the two and a half story wooden dwelling at 111 Spring Street West Roxbury. Occupant Charles Duffy is listed at the scene. The cause of the blaze remains undetermined.

Cambridge youth charged with assault on grandmother

Charles H. Frenchy of 22 Leestreet Cambridge was brought from Skowhegan Maine to Cambridge on a charge of assaulting his grandmother Mrs Mattie French with a dangerous weapon on Oct 31. He admitted the attack in which she was struck four times but not knocked unconscious and neighbors heard her screams. Police say robbery was the motive.

Upset on Center Street Flees After Collision

Speeding at a wild clip on Center Street Jamaica Plain yesterday afternoon a heavy touring car swerved into a truck coming from a side street tipping the truck and injuring Dennis Sheehan and his seven year old son Daniel who were thrown from the seat. They were rushed to Faulkner Hospital after a crowd lifted the truck. The father suffered cuts bruises and a broken arm while the car driver fled.
