Bar room quarrel leads to fatal shooting on Green Street

John Edwards a 20 year old pickpocket died of gunshot wounds after a drink prompted by Henry Wheeler a 41 year old street performer. The incident began in Donovan's saloon as the two confronted a mutual acquaintance McGuinness then moved outside where Wheeler bought a revolver and fired twice missing before Edwards returned fire. Wheeler was wounded in the hand and Edwards was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital where doctors said he was seriously hurt but not yet dead.

Iron Rain Spreads Destruction on East Boston

A six ton iron block shattered Bre men Street East Boston yesterday after twelve sticks of nitro glycerine exploded to break up a massive block. Ten year old Daniel McGuire was fatally injured and others suffered injuries and shock as homes and windows were damaged. Fire officials faced criticism for permitting blasting in a crowded area and the delay in summoning help.

Two Years for Epps in Robbery Case on Rutland Street

William Epps colored man yesterday sentenced to two years in the House of Correction for snatching a chatelaine bar from Miss Clarke on Rutland street Monday night. Chief Watts identifies him as an old offender who served 14 months in the reformatory for breaking and entering. He was measured and photographed at headquarters under Bertillon, and is believed tied to several recent South End robberies.

Theriault Guilty Of First Degree Murder In Maine Case

In Skowhegan a jury found Alexander Theriault guilty of first degree murder for the March shooting of Mathias Pare near Asquith Station. The jury deliberated about three and a quarter hours. After verdict, Theriault’s counsel said the case would be appealed to the Law Court on exceptions.
