Newport arson arrest ties Bell to Bailey's Beach blaze

Dennison M. Bell, son of Dr. C. M. Bell, was arrested and arraigned on arson charges for last night's Bailey's Beach bathing pavilion fire. He pleaded not guilty, held on $6000 bail posted by his father. Bell confessed to setting the pavilion and Mahoney's stable fires but denied involvement in a cottage fire last week. Trial set for January term of the Supreme Court.

Recount Confirms Cambridge Ward 2 Representatives

Cambridge registrars of voters held a recount in Ward 2 for Representative. Tuesday's election results had J. F. Donovan and James A. Montgomery, both Democrats, winning. Republican Samuel W. Bailey trailed by about 206 votes and petitioned for a recount, which produced no change. Donovan and Montgomery are declared the elected representatives.

Girl, 12, Fractures Leg After Ladder Accident on Menden Street

A 12 year old girl from % Bickford was playing with a Colt tree ladder on Menden street Sunday when she fell and fractured her left leg. Police and medical responders were summoned to the scene and transported her to a local hospital for treatment. The incident is under investigation to determine if the ladder or its use contributed to the injury.
