Mission Board Allocates Funds for Vermont Maine and Several Regions

The Methodist Board of Missions allocated funds totaling 1400 for Vermont and 22000 for Maine with further distributions to many regional missions. Southern California received 2500 and California 3500. Alabama’s operennium was adjusted to 7000. Baltimore to host the General Conference. Additional grants supported Swedish Danish Norwegian and German missions across the United States including New York, Minnesota, Illinois, Wisconsin, and West Texas among others.

Alstead Board of Agriculture session draws farming leaders

Alstead New Hampshire November 12 The Board of Agriculture held a session that drew many intelligent farmers. Participants included Humfprey Adams Hutchinson and Sanborn from the board and Wilson Elwell Langdon Gilmore Tuits Randall and others from Alstead with Williams and Clark of Walpole assisting. The meeting covered corn growing stock breeding manures and animal diseases with many fresh points and old doctrines reinforced.

Tragedy at Greenfield mill claims two workers

Michael Taintor, 32, of Greenfield, employed at J Russell cutlery near Purner's Falls, killed when caught in a revolving belt. His arm was torn away and both legs broken as other injuries caused death within forty five minutes. Wife and two children left in modest circumstances. Another death, Gust er Hedstrom, in a Weed Sewing Machine shop shafting incident, reported today.

Fairfield ministerial student missing after trip from Skowhegan

Andrew Bradbury, 24, left Skowhegan for Fairfield Wednesday morning and was last seen walking about two miles above Fairfield in the afternoon. Searchers combed the woods today but found no trace as the disappearance prompts a statewide missing person inquiry. Bradbury had been studying for the ministry.

The Connecticut River Valley Masonic Union met at Waitr River Junction to set the fourth annual festival. January 1th was chosen as the date with Bellows Falls likely as the site. Committees on music and transportation were formed. The association has about 300 members.

Special Despatch reports the Stonington line locomotive Mat Morgan exploded at Providence depot at 8 pm. Engineer William Fisk was badly scalded, fireman James Thomas seriously burned, newcomer John Knowles badly scarred, Henry Lewis of the Garfield injured by splinters. Morgan toppled, Garfield derailed. both engines badly damaged after the crash.

Lafayette Springer of Fort Fairfield Maine died by his own hand on the 3rd. B Turk & Brother in Burlington Vermont reported a robbery of goods worth 200 dollars on Wednesday night. Dover will get a new bridge over the Cocheco river on Central street with costs not to exceed 17000. A three year old son of Thomas Morris of Thomaston Connecticut was crowned in a barrel of rain water on the 10th. John Beacon and his brother were arrested at Norwich Connecticut for attempting arson on an unoccupied building. Mr David Camp aged 72 was killed at Stowe Vermont when his horse bolted and threw him from his wagon.
