A fatal blaze trapped victims in upper rooms of a three story mill district house in New Bedford. Flames raged for about an hour while occupants slept. The fire’s cause remains undetermined as investigators inspect the scene.

Fatal North End blaze claims three lives in New Bedford

A November night fire at 9 Beetle Street in the North End mill district killed Delia Decheau and Georgianna Gokey’s baby, with Eugene Pothier and Delia Decheau badly burned. Mrs. Bradley survived. the building owner Adelard Gondroau was away. Fire gutted the three story carriage house and two upper tenements. cause unknown.
