Italian armies retreat across the Venetian plains toward the Piave River where a stand is expected soon aided by large reinforcements from British and French armies under a newly formed command to cooperate with an allied officers conference.
U S consul reports to Ambassador Francis that rebels gain full control of government offices and hold the city. Troops believed loyal to Kerensky are aiding the uprising while Kerensky marches on the capital. Peasants are not with the revolt and may organize against it.
Telegram from Moscow reports the revolutionary committee backed by the garrison has seized all government offices in the capital. The American consul-general says Moscow remains quiet as conditions are described. A new cabinet plans an armistice on all fronts.
A dispatch from Italian army headquarters reports General Cadorna removed from supreme command and reassigned to the inter allied conference with General Foch and General Wilson. General Diaz assumed chief command of the Italian forces as the latest war developments unfold.
