Diphtheria has broken out in Lynn's western section with thirty cases reported. Seventeen cases are in the Children's Home and a Thomson street house houses the sick. Authorities blame poor sewer drainage and dispute over brook sewage rights between city officials and fish commissioners. The outbreak grows as inspectors find new cases daily.
Fire destroyed the Round House on Adams Street in Lexington last evening before help could arrive. Built 47 years ago by Fiske, the landmark was a high octagonal timber structure valued at $8000 with $2000 insured. Furniture saved. stove implausible. Owner Dell Butterfield, recently unlucky with fires and a road accident. This marks the town's fourth major blaze in months.
