Michale Costa found guilty of taking part in the August rioting in South Boston where Italian reservists were preparing to sail. He was sentenced by Judge Hitchcock to four months in the House of Correction in the Superior Criminal Court yesterday afternoon.
In a Jamaica Plain case, Mrs Costa and her four children aged one to nine faced destitution as sentence was imposed. Court Officer Lally arranged immediate aid from the board of overseers, bringing relief to the impoverished family. Carl A Hillstrom pleaded guilty to breaking into Faulkner Hospital and was sent to the state reformatory. Nellie Magrath testified to the assault, while Annie Day and others recounted events.
