City investigation opens on liquor law enforcement in Brockton

The first session of the inquiry into Rev. Warfield’s statements on liquor law non enforcement and bribe allegations opened before the Brockton Board of Aldermen. District Attorney Harris and Judge Reed testified that raids yielded larger returns and that liquor sellers showed less regard for law, while officers complained of being hampered and warned the audience of possible consequences.

Boston Voters Rally Behind Quincy in City Caucuses

Democratic caucuses across Boston last night elected delegates to the mayoralty and aldermanic conventions amid strong showings for Josiah Quincy. Ward results showed Mahoney winning in several districts, with tight races in Charlestown Ward 3 and 4 and heavy participation in Ward 18 Cabot Street bath house precincts.
