About fifteen hundred people gathered in a defense conference in Boston yesterday to protest the treatment of I W W poet Joseph Hillstrom who faces execution in Salt Lake City. They voted to flood Utah with protest letters and telegrams to President Wilson Senator Smoot and Governor Spry urging a new trial and his liberty.
The Philharmonic Society of New York under Josef Stransky featured Harold Bauer as soloist. A first city performance of Reger Variations and Fugue on a Mozart theme was presented, alongside Saint-Saens Piano Concerto No.4 in C minor, Rimsky Korsakov Scheherazade and Wagner Tannhauser Overture.
