Chelsea Soldiers' Home elects Bilackmar to fill vacancy

At a board meeting General Wilmon W. Bilackmar was elected to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Captain Jack Adams. Bilackmar is department junior vice-commander of the Grand Army and first commander of B. W. Kinsley Post No. 118 in the city.

John Sabine Smith Republican figure dies in New York

John Sabine Smith, a lawyer and former president of the Republican county committee, died at his New York residence today. He leaves a widow whom he married about a year ago.

Fort War ren guns sold for junk to be replaced by batteries

The Post recalls the disposal of ninety one old guns at Fort Warren to a New York junk dealer. Bevere batteries will replace them. guns weighing eight and twenty five tons will be moved by lighters to South Boston piers and loaded onto New York, New Haven Hartford railroad flat cars for delivery. Betts Bros. & Co. of East Boston are handling wrecking with tug Fannie Lenox towing lighters. A fleet of twenty three vessels brought about 625000 tons of fish to T Wharf. Crew arrivals from Belle J. Neal and others enabled voting for Bryant Stevenson and others on the ticket. Several ships left Mystic with lumber to Union and stores for Cape Town. The harbor is unusually desolate with few vessels, as some barges break down and seek repairs at Gloucester. Captain George Balzley on J. B. Van Dusen murdered by mate Elmer Maxwell last May. H. B.
