Sticker Candidate Wins in Winthrop
In Winthrop the gubernatorial race was shadowed by a local election where Charles D. Bradbury defeated incumbent Joseph Harvey for the Republican nomination by 227 votes. Bradbury ran on stickers after a heated campaign with former Board of Selectmen chairman opposing Harvey. The "Two Platoon" referendum backed by Boston firemen was defeated by about 5000 votes.
