The record shows Draper and Vahey totals from the state vote of 1900 and 1910 with Draper leading in 1900 at 199,186 to 182,252 and a Draper loss of 110 and 18,324 in the 1900 tally. In 1910 Foss appears with a plurality of 200,576 against 28,714.
Three small towns show gains for Eugene N. Foss Democrat for Governor, suggesting a statewide drift if trends persist. The commonwealth re-elected Governor Draper last year, with cities and large towns giving Vahey about 80,000 and many small communities backing Draper by about 88,000.
Post reporters sought to determine political drift in small towns by canvassing Boxboro in Middlesex, Phillipston in Worcester, and Mashpee in Barnstable. Boxboro and Phillipston are farming communities with owner farms. Mashpee voters include farmers and cranberry bog workers.

Congressman Ames requests Senator Lodge withdraw from the contest for senator to save Governor Draper. Lodge declines to reply. Foss at Worcester asserts the fight is won while Draper in Fall River accuses Foss of being dominated by the Boston machine.
Congressman Butler Ames appeals to Senator Lodge in an open letter urging him not to seek re election to the United States Senate. Ames says the state ticket faces defeat and calls for Lodge to pledge not to run to help Governor Draper and the party machinery survive. Continued on Page 7 Sixth Column.
A powerful nor'easter battered the coast with 50 mile per hour winds driving torrents from Maryland to New Brunswick. Heavy rains inundated New England while central states faced snow and rail disruptions. Local seas caused thousands in damage to ships and shore properties as lines failed and telegraph service tangled.
A Plymouth gale reached 60 miles per hour driving waves to Sandwich street high water mark and causing thousands of dollars in damage to hories small craft and fishermen's property. Snow blankets covered parts of Pennsylvania and Binghamton while Baltimore saw hangars blown down and 10 aeroplanes wrecked. Gloucester fishermen sheltered as nets and rigging suffered heavy losses and lobster pots were strewn from Cape Ann to Cape Cod. Steamers stayed in port with Portland Bath and Gloucester lines canceling trips.
Weather forecast shows for Boston and vicinity Saturday rain expected with clearing later as a colder air moves in. Sunday will be fair with northerly winds turning variable. Washington reports New England forecast: fair Saturday with rain on the Maine coast Sunday, winds diminishing from north to northwest.
