Dwight A. Niles, who shot and killed his wife at Newport Centre last March, was sentenced to life imprisonment today. Niles formerly worked as a brakeman for the Boston & Maine Railway.
The forecast calls for partly cloudy skies over Boston and vicinity with rising temperatures. Winds shift from south to southwest as conditions improve toward midweek with fair weather expected on Wednesday and possible local showers in interior eastern New York.
Lillian B. Clarke of Charlestown sues Mrs. Flora Markham Fenn of Lee in the Superior Court over alleged alienation of her husband Orlando A. Clarke's affections. Clarke seeks $20,000 in damages.
State police, medical examiner and local officers say Mrs Higgins housekeeper for George Stubbs of Burlington died under suspicious circumstances and an arrest is expected soon. North Easton reports detectives have no clues after a Sunday night burglary at the Oliver Ames estate. Four men, likely four, entered via the veranda roof and unlocked second window to raid the wife’s boudoir. valuables valued at $15000. No tracks found.
In a wild rally at Congress Hall Ward 13 South Boston Mayor John F Fitzgerald was prevented from speaking for Henry M Whitney as jeers catcalls and hoots filled the hall. The crowd demanded a song and drowned his remarks with chants for John B Moran and cries that they would stay all night to be heard.
Edward F. Baker says detectives he hired will arrest two women and two men for poisoning Walter Farns worth Baker on the night of Oct 26. A fifth man will be held as an important witness. Continued on Page 12 First Column.
