Blazing Ship Reported In Atlantic Far Out to Sea

New England radio stations worked to contact ships near a blazing vessel sighted about 400 miles southeast of Halifax. By midnight the naval wireless station in Charlestown could not identify the craft. A Saxoliene message from 42.18N 53.25W said encircled we set on fire burning fiercely no sign of crew and apparently a large vessel.

Members of the Women’s Auxiliary of the 101st Infantry met at the Y D Club to organize a welfare group for veterans confined to hospitals.
