New Boston swindle recruits bookkeepers with dollar bait
Post office inspectors traced a curious scam promising bookkeeper positions for a fee of one dollar. A Massachusetts youth, Francis Cobb of Wellfield, 17, drawn by the glow of high salaries, sent no money and was spared prosecution after his innocent claims and turn from the ruse. The case ends with no one harmed and likely no charges.
