A steamer was jolted by a shark strike near the bow on May 2 as it sailed. The bow was damaged and speed diminished, with a diver later sighting a huge mutilated carcass clinging to the ship. The vessel fell back briefly before continuing.

Waite refused to plead guilty asserting many townspeople work Sundays. State's Attorney Novak argued Waite violated the Sabbath while noting he washed a car the previous Sunday.
In Atlantic City on May 2 a 6 year old boy William Rosendorf, son of a Washington fur importer, nearly spoke during a 1000 foot flight. His mother, Mrs Wm Rosendorf, says his hearing is perfect but speech has been almost entirely absent since birth. Pilot A Livingston Allen notes a similar case of speech return at altitude and urges another flight for the boy with his mother’s consent.
