The Rev. Albert G. Adams of Cincinnati, after eight years in Africa, was aboard the Leyland liner Winifredian when customs inspectors seized a black ivory tusk he carried worth thousands of dollars.
A cannibal missionary and his wife argued that a packed case contained household effects for over a year and should be exempt from taxation. Mrs Charles M Cabot of 297 Marlboro Street Back Bay a wealthy suffragist socialist and union champion yesterday joined 40 girl strikers in front of Kingston Manufacturing Company 19 Kingston Street. Her picketing led eight male strikebreakers to quit and join the workers.
Mrs. Cabot, wife of Moors & Cabot broker Charles Mills Cabot, aided the Shirt Waist Makers' Union in a two week strike at Kingston Manufacturing Company over a wage cut from 40 to 35 cents for night gowns. She notes two strike leaders were dismissed, sparking renewed action and concerns the employer may go out of business without recognizing the union.
Christopher Columbus Wilson, president of the United Wireless Telegraph Company, and four associates were convicted by a federal jury in New York on May 29 of fraudulent use of the United States mail to solicit subscriptions for wireless stock.
Judge Martin immediately imposes prison terms for Wilson Parker Butler each two and three years in Atlanta. Juror bribe claim raised by US Attorney Henry Wisa prompts no bail for all five. The defendants are remanded to Tombs under a ten day stay, with option to appeal to the circuit court.

Police report a woman posing as Mrs J L Davis of Portland and later Alice Sterling of Providence. She faked illnesses to obtain doctor attention and lodging, swindled hotel and druggists, hired a car for Boothbay Hospital, and vanished after leaving debts unpaid. Authorities vow arrest if found.

The court orders disintegration within six to eight months or a receiver appointed, more drastic than the Standard Oil dissolution two weeks earlier.
