Frieda Vaso, nearly drowned in the Charles River, disappeared after rescue attempts by J E Ross and John Brogan, Cragie Bridge drawtenders. Brogan improvised a boat and pulled her to safety in the engine room, with police and ambulance arriving as she was helped onto the bridge. She later said she fell in accidentally while working in Brighton.
