Maritime Bank Failure Reveals Two Books and Large Deficit
At St. John New Brunswick on May 29 startling court disclosures show manager MacLellan kept two sets of books at the Maritime Bank. Liquidators estimate the deficiency after asset deduction at over 1.3 million dollars. Debtors Stewart and Guy Bevan Co owed 200,000 while George McLeod owed 168,000 but yielded only 5,000 plus a sliver of promise. MacLellan, blamed for the crash, is said to be active in Omaha real estate.
